College Bulletin

The Bulletin is a quarterly professional membership magazine, including articles that are useful and interesting to pathologists and provoking discussion and comment.

We cater for the interests of our diverse readership, provoking discussion and comment on topics that range across the 17 specialties of pathology.

The Bulletin is now fully digital, with improved accessibility and more interactive features.

The July Bulletin explores the science at the heart of blood, transplantation and patient care, introduced by Professor Renata Gomes, Chief Scientific Officer of NHS Blood and Transplant. The theme includes articles on Blood and Transplant Research Units, cellular and gene therapies, transfusion safety, data-driven transfusion practice, the case for medical haematology, and xenotransplantation.

The issue includes an introduction to our new President-Elect, Professor Sarah Coupland. You can also read about the Green Toolkit for pathology, the College Industry Leaders’ Forum and the bioMérieux webinar series. The Training section features an update on the FRCPath Part 2 paediatric pathology exam.

In his editorial, Dr Bernie Croal covers Pathology Transformation Review 2026 and the House of Lords’ Science and Technology Committee, at which Dr Croal gave evidence. Dr Croal also highlights Volunteer’s Week, our Annual Dinner and Achievement Awards, as well as elections for College Honorary Officer positions.
