Defining adverse effects in non-clinical toxicity studies – Virtual

This webinar will focus on the identification and characterisation of hazards, identified for drugs in development, in preparation for ‘first in man’ clinical trials. 

Pathology end points constitute the most common contribution used to set NOAELs in toxicity studies, and the current presentation will illustrate the difficulties of assigning adversity using case examples, and will finally propose a set of rules that practicing toxicologists and pathologists can use to justify assigning a particular change as non-adverse and a subsequent dose level as a NOAEL.

New Consultants' Day – Virtual

The New Consultants' Day helps and supports those recently appointed to a consultant post, or who will soon be taking one up. It is appropriate for all pathology specialties and for both medically trained pathologists and clinical scientists. 

You will hear from experienced consultants on a range of topics such as:

  • how to prepare a business case to secure resources
  • how to set up new services
  • how best to deal with complaints.

You will learn more about:

  • appraisal, revalidation and job planning (parallel session for medically trained pathologists)
  • the experiences of consultant clinical scientists (parallel session for clinical scientists).

It is most suitable for those appointed to a consultant post within the last year, or who expect to be appointed to a consultant post within the next year.

The Royal College of Pathologists, the lead medical royal college for medical examiners, is providing the essential training which will equip you with the knowledge and skills you will need for this important role. The day will include short presentations, small group discussions of case scenarios and the opportunity to share experience.

A certificate will be awarded to provide evidence of completion of the face-to-face component of the Medical Examiner training. This training complements the e-learning which you must complete before attending this training.
