Register as a trainee
Registration as a trainee is required for specific specialties.
The Royal College of Pathologists undertakes a mandatory registration process for all StRs appointed to either a run-through training programme with a National Training Number (NTN) or a Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) in the following specialties:
- chemical pathology
- diagnostic neuropathology
- forensic histopathology
- histopathology
- medical microbiology
- medical virology
- paediatric and perinatal pathology.
You will also be requested to upload a signed copy of your supervisor form.
Dual trainees in medical microbiology/infectious diseases and medical virology/infectious diseases
As part of an agreement between the JRCPTB and the Royal College of Pathologists, all dual trainees in medical microbiology and infectious diseases and medical virology and infectious diseases need to enrol with both Colleges. This is in order that dual trainees can also take advantage of the benefits this College offers to its own registered trainees.
Since a substantial component of your training is in medical microbiology or medical virology and you will be sitting the FRCPath examination during your specialty training, the College is keen to ensure contact with you. Once you have completed the form below we will contact you confirming your registration with the College, after which you will be able to access training-related functions on our website. No other registration forms need to be completed at this stage. If you have any further questions, please contact us on training@rcpath.org.
