Toxicology

Resources for those working in toxicology, including links to upcoming College and CPD-accredited events.

Members of the College working in the field of toxicology:

  • help identify potential side effects of medicines and chemicals before exposure to humans and the environment
  • advise on the safe use of medicines and chemicals
  • obtain regulatory approval for clinical trials and for commercial use of medicines and chemicals
  • diagnose potential cases of human intoxication.

As such, toxicologists and pathologists working in this area do so in a range of settings, including the health service, industry (pharmaceutical and chemical), regulatory authorities and commercial / private laboratories.

I just love being in the lab – method development especially. Let’s say a new drug appears that we need to screen for. We have to develop a method to measure it, and it’s a matter of how accurate we can make that test.
